Against the Grain 2023

The final year degree show Against the Grain 2023 held at Leeds Arts University showcased a multitude of Loane's multi-medium work.  The installation is centred with a large white frame where plaster squares hang gracefully with reflective gold leaf on alternate surfaces. At the base of the carefully crafted frame lays the multitude of blue ceramic 'Sorrow Bowls' 2023 with a mirror cube in the centre. Through this installation Loane plays with reflection, repetition, textures, linear qualities and colour to bring to life her abstract contemporary sculptures. The sand at the base of the terracotta squares reflect the warm quality of the earth material contrasted by the sleek modern mirror cubes juxtaposed on top of each other. 'Touch' 2022, 'Amongst the Sphere' 2022,  'Bulbous Forms' 2022 and 'The Cube' collection are all part of the installation to showcase Loane's work throughout her time at Leeds Arts University.
